Abuse: The Numbers and an Inquiry.

It was recently reported by the BBC that between 2012 and 2014 over two hundred thousand children in the UK were sexually abused. This is a shocking figure. It was also reported that only one in eight of those abused will ever come forward to admit being abused. This is a tragedy.

An national inquiry has been established that will look in to every aspect of child abuse as it relates to institutions such as the Anglican Church, the Catholic Church and even the highest levels of political institutions. The inquiry will be looking at historical allegations and cover ups. The inquiry is far reaching but the outcome should help individuals who have suffered abuse to come forward. It’s also hoped that those who have abused children and those who have covered up child abuse will receive justice.
