Children’s Mental Health

There has been growing recognition that there are children in the UK suffering with mental health issues. The mental health issues include depression and eating disorders among others. Some mental health issues were being suffered by children as young as 4. Recently, the issue of children in the UK suffering with mental health problems has entered the media and become part of the election platforms of the major political parties. A cynic might suggest that this serious issue only becomes a national media issue during the run up to a General Election. I feel there’s a growing awareness that mental health issues affect the whole population and that there’s a chronic under funding in the NHS to help alleviate mental health issues, particularly among children. All efforts must be made to keep this issue on the national agenda to ensure there’s adequate funding to alleviate mental health issues for people of all ages.
