Depression Among the Young

As recently reported on the BBC, there’s been recognition that treating depression needs to be a national health priority. Depression can devastate people’s lives and is one of the major causes of lost work hours.

What the report emphasized was that detection and treatment of depression needs to be a priority among young people because depression affects children and adolescents in alarming numbers. The BBC report asserted that 75% of those suffering depression never receive treatment at all.

With a recognition that medication alone isn’t the long term answer to depression, it seems more GPs are willing to embrace the possibility that hypnotherapy can help diminish depression. This is a positive step.
