Eating Disorders and Adults

It was reported this week in the British media that there’s little or no NHS funding to address the issue of eating disorders in adults. Children and adolescents with eating disorders can, depending on where they live, receive support for severe eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. This does not seem to be case for adults.

In my practice, I see adults who are overeating severely. This too is an eating disorder with significant health repercussions. I’ve also helped adults with anorexia. Without support, many adults struggle with significant eating disorders with nowhere to turn. This situation must change. There must be recognition of adult eating disorders and help for those individuals.
