Eating Disorders in the Young

It was announced in the UK media that the number of children admitted to hospital with eating disorders has increased dramatically in the last few years. According to the same report in the UK media, societal pressure from social media appears to be part of the problem. Obesity is always explicitly called obesity in the media, but “eating disorders” generally refers to anorexia and bulimia. These eating disorders result from severe emotional disturbances before adolescence. Regression therapy in conjunction with CBT and coherence therapy can help a person understand the causes of the severe emotional disturbances that can lead to eating disorders. The understanding of the causes of eating disorders helps a person progress beyond their symptoms, but people also learn to think, feel and behave differently. Eating disorders can be overcome.
