Frontline NHS

The media are littered with stories about what ails the NHS. Shortfalls, underfunding, mistakes, staff over worked and underpaid. The list could be extended and these are acknowledged issues. What fails to receive enough attention is when everything goes right despite the challenges.

I recently spent three days in Southmead Hospital in Bristol. From the A&E Department through minor surgery to the ward to discharge I have nothing but praise for every aspect of my treatment and care. Staff were punctual and efficient while at the same time they were friendly and approachable. I enjoyed the meals too. So when we hear so much about the real trials and tribulations of the NHS it’s worth remembering that in the meantime staff continue to deliver excellent care to so many people.
