The Holiday Season.

Christmas is a time for giving, a time for family, and a time for a break from the stresses of work life or school. On the other hand, the holiday season brings it’s own stresses be they financial or social. People have told me that in the past they “took a break” from dieting for the last 2 weeks of December. This approach often had catastrophic consequences for their weight whereby a year of gradual weight loss was nearly or totally undone in 2 weeks of Christmas food binging. Weight management is a state of mind 24/7 52 weeks a year. If one is healthy and active an indulgence here and there, particularly at Christmas, isn’t an issue. A person’s default behavior when not dieting shouldn’t be over indulging. A person’s default behavior should be a calm but vigilant awareness of balancing small healthy meals with regular exercise. Then Christmas becomes more about family and giving and not about over indulging.
