Therapy in the Present

I help people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Many arrive with a sense of urgency and a willingness to accept change. As a therapist with several years experience, I need to determine whether a person addresses their concerns by focussing on the present and managing the future or exploring aspects of their past to understand the present. The former is addressed with CBT and suggestion therapy. Exploring a person’s past is accomplished by exploring emotions and feelings in the present. Then CBT is used to help a person understand the relationship between how they feel and how they think and act in the present. I don’t insist upon “digging around in the past”. Reactions to events in past are being re-experienced emotionally in the present. I clearly understand and appreciate the distinctions. Don’t hesitate to request a free consultation for any emotional issue.
