Young People and Mental Health

At the level of national government, fiscal restraint is often a euphemism for cutbacks. The BBC reported that funding to alleviate mental illness among young people in the UK is “evaporating”. Government has less funding to offer at the national and local level and inevitably funding holes can’t be filled. The prospect that many tens of billions of pounds may be spent on HS2 while young people with mental health issues receive little or no support is appalling and dreadfully short sighted. Funding and support for young people must be increased not decreased.
I often help young adults who feel ignored and abandoned by the current medical system. They often arrive frustrated and alienated. Thus to even begin to help them I need to establish a high degree of trust and rapport. Once the trust and understanding is established, I offer CBT and hypnotherapy in a non-judgemental environment with absolute confidentiality.
